When neighbours who used to produce pork moved away we wanted to still have access to yummy sausages; it seemed the sensible thing to start rearing our own pigs, so we starting Tasty Tumpers as a little family venture.
With the help of friends (and a bit of YouTube!) we tentativly butchered our first pigs and produced our first sausages.
We started this as a family with Fiona, Ryan and John alongside Rachael and Dene all working on producing yummy pork products.
As we’ve improved our technique Dene and Rachael do most of the butchery with the rest of the family coming in to support some months and particularly around Christmas.
John and Ryan work mainly on the husbandry of the pigs, making sure our pigs are well fed, comfy and well fenced into their orchard paddocks.
